Misery loves what kind of company?

I love this psychological study. Ten subjects were in a dentist’s waiting room. Another person entered the room. The ten were unaware that the “dummy” patient had special instructions to laugh, giggle and have a good time during the ordeal of waiting to get into the dentist’s chair.

When measurements were taken, the ten subjects were furious with the happy and laughing “patient.”They literally hated him for having a good time.

The results of the study showed that the expression “misery loves company” was modified to read, “misery loves miserable company.”
